Antigone: Just because I buried him doesn't mean that you should go
and tell Creon that you were involved too. You didn't do anything so
you will not die with me.

Character Bio:

Hi! My names Ismene. I am the sister of Antigone and daughter of Oedipus
and Iocasta. My father died while on the throne so my two brothers took it
over. They ended up killing each other in battle over who got the throne.
So now only me and my sister are left. Creon, the new King of Thebe, made
it clear that Polyneices not be buried, but Antigone wants to go against his
word and bury him. I tried telling her that its the wrong decision and we should follow the laws, but I know she will do what she thinks is right. Even though I love my brother,
I know the consequence is death.

Rosa Parks
Rosa Parks and Ismene would be good friends because Rosa stood up for what she believed in, and that was black rights. After realizing that she should have helped
Antigone bury Polyneices, she wanted to die with her sister because she knew it was
the right thing to do.

Nelson Mandela
Nelson and Ismene are very similar because both of their father's died at a young age
and they were forced to live under their powerful relatives rules.

Notes--one for each episode
Prologue:

  • Polyneices and Eteocles fought in a war and ended up killing each other
  • King Creon refuses to bury Polyneices because he was on opposing side of war
  • He announced any who did bury Polyneices will be stoned to death in public
  • Antigone goes to Ismene saying she will bury their brother anyway, Ismene thinks she is crazy and won't help her

Episode One:
  • The Sentry told Creon someone buried Polyneices and he is extremely mad because they're not sure who did it
  • King Creon suspects someone from a group of people who rarely follow the rules did it, but can't be sure

Episode Two:

  • Creon finds out Antigone buried Polyneices
  • Sentry went back to where he was buried and found Antigone there and brought her to Creon
  • Antigone confesses and tells Creon she had to bury her brother
  • Creon tells her she will be penalized like warned, and also put some of the blame on Ismene too
  • Ismene tells Antigone she wants part in the death to honor her brother also, but it was too late

Episode Three:

  • Because Haemon is Antigone's lover, obviously he doesn't want Creon, his father, to kill her
  • Creon tries to explain to him that she is evil and he should not marry someone like that who has broken a law
  • Haemon does not once say that he doesn't want her killed because he loves her but instead makes these three points..
1. The people will turn against him becuase they feel she did a good deed
2. he tells Creon that it's okay to switch decisions now "even if one is wise in learning more, and knowing when to yield." lines 705-711
3. people are scared of Creon to say what they want to his face

  • Although at first Creon seems like he isn't moved by anything Haemon says, he soon changes his decision and instead of killing her, he is just going to imprison her in a cave.

Episode Four:

  • Creon has his plan set to wall her up in a cavern and there she will choose to either live or die, he just doesn't want her to live with the living.
  • She reassures herself that her decision to bury Polyneices was the right choice and she didn't care what Creon said
  • Antigone is happy that she is going to get reunited with her mother, father and brothers

Episode Five:

  • Teiresias, a seer, comes to tell Creon that because of Polyneices not being buried, heaven will not accept their prayer
  • Teiresias also says that because what Creon is doing to Antigone, it is going to cause many people to hate him
  • Teiresias prophecy's advises Creon to release Antigone from the rock dungeon, then bury her, but instead he does it in the wrong order and buries her first

Epilogue:

  • A messenger comes to say that Haemon has committed suicide because he found Antigone hanged in the cave
  • Haemon first tried to kill his father, but after a fail of that, he stuck the sword though himself instead
  • Eurydice, Haemon's mother, then kills herself as well after hearing that Haemon has killed himself
  • Creon finally realizes that he has made a big mistake by killing Antigone, and now he prays for death because he sees no point in living without his wife and son
